Gilbert’s Story - Founder and Owner of Walk The Streets
I grew up in a broken home, surrounded by violence and instability.
By 10, I had lost both parents. Passed between family members, I faced abuse, bullying, and rejection. At 18, I found my grandad dead.
A year later, I found myself homeless, having lost all trust in people. I felt like nothing more than a number, so I turned to alcohol and drugs to cope. I spiralled into a deep instability, sleeping rough with nowhere to turn. My health deteriorated to the point where I ended up on a heart monitor for a week, just to stay alive. It felt like I didn’t exist, like I was already gone.
While I never gave up, there was always hope. Growing up, I knew I was different, and it turns out, I'm also neurodivergent. Using these three questions, I started to understand myself and the world around me:
What do I want from life? How will I get there? What's stopping me? These questions gave me the guidance I needed to rebuild my life. I hope these three questions can save someone like they saved me. That's why I created Walk the Streets.
Every purchase helps homelessness charities, providing real support to those still fighting.
The story behind Walk The Streets,
